A carer who “gets no recognition or reward, but is very, very appreciated” has been nominated for Community Champion in this year’s Pride of Reading Awards.
His nominator said of Martyn West: “Despite in struggling health himself, he selflessly helps any others in need, be it weekly shopping for elderly neighbours, helping the community group or helping sort out emergency plumbers etc.”
This is all while being a full-time carer to his disabled daughter, they added.
