Reading FC legend Kevin Doyle has given his verdict on whether the Royals’ ‘106’ team are the best Championship side of all time.
Debates have been ongoing for years as to who are the best side to ever grace the Championship.
Reading fans can make a strong case for their 2005/06 team being the best as their record of achieving 106 points under Steve Coppell still remains unbeaten.
Other teams put forward in the arguments have been the Wolves team of 2017/18 and Marcelo Bielsa Leeds United side in 2019/20.
However, Reading legend Kevin Doyle believes that one team stand head and shoulders above the rest.
Speaking to OLBG, who offer the Best Betting Sites at https://www.olbg.com/bookmakers.php, Doyle said: “There’s no debate, I’m just going on facts, on points. That’s all you can go on.
“When it’s a debate and people are humming and hawing, you can only go on the facts. There’s only one team with 106 points.
“We’d beat them. That Wolves team had good players, and our Reading team had good players at the time. We mightn’t have had as fancy a name as Ruben Neves, but we were a good team.
“I can only go on the facts, 106 points and I think ninety-nine goals. We nearly got to Europe with the exact same team. Wolves spent when they got promoted to the Premier League. We did it with the exact same team.
“We signed Seol Ki-hyeon, a tricky winger from South Korea and he was really good in that first year in the Premier League, but that was the only difference to our team for the season.
“That’s what makes it more crazy, basically the exact same team went up and did it in the Premier League. I don’t think Wolves would have done it with the exact same team.”
