Reading Festival-goers have been given an unexpected addition to this weekend’s line-up, with a major rock act set to appear on the festival’s opening day.
The surprise performance was announced on BBC Radio on Wednesday evening, with fans now able to add another name to their Friday schedules.
Royal Blood will take to the Gallery stage at 14:00 on Friday, giving festival-goers another chance to catch the Brighton rock duo live.
The band, made up of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, are known for their heavy blues-rock sound and hits including Out of the Black, Figure It Out and Trouble’s Coming.
Their appearance comes as part of a packed Friday at Reading Festival, with the duo joining a line-up featuring a host of major acts across the festival’s stages.
The surprise booking had not appeared on the previously announced festival line-up, making the BBC Radio announcement an unexpected reveal for fans preparing for the weekend.
Royal Blood have previously performed at Reading Festival and are regulars on major UK festival stages.
The festival takes place at Richfield Avenue in Reading from Friday to Sunday, with thousands of music fans expected to attend.
Royal Blood are due on the Gallery stage at 2pm on Friday.
