Reading FC have agreed a deal and are set to sign a young, promising attacking midfielder from West Ham United.

21-year-old George Earthy is set to finalise his permanent move to the Royals as Leam Richardson strengthens his options.

Reading fans have been crying out for new signings as the end of the summer transfer window quickly approaches. The club has made four new signings so far, but are still actively trying to recruit several new players before the window closes at the start of September.

Earthy has made a total of five first-team appearances for West Ham, including four in the Premier League.

He has spent two seasons on loan with Championship side Bristol City. His first loan spell in 2024/25 saw him net three times in 37 league appearances. He then joined Bristol again last January and played 10 times in the 2025/26 campaign for the Robins.

He has represented England at four different age groups and has made two appearances for England U21s as he continues his development into first-team football.
