RESIDENTS from across Thames Valley are invited to go behind the scenes of policing when Thames Valley Police opens its doors for its Summer Open Day this weekend.
Taking place at the force’s training centre in Sulhamstead near Reading, the free event offers visitors an opportunity to meet officers, staff, and volunteers and discover the wide range of work carried out across the Thames Valley.
As well as a programme of displays, demonstrations and family-friendly activities throughout the day, the Thames Valley Police Museum will be open to visitors, exploring the history of the largest non-metropolitan force in the country.
The day also features police dogs demonstrating their skills, police horses and their riders, exhibits on major crimes, behind-the-scenes insights into modern policing, careers talks and information, family activities, and interactive displays
Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs said: “We are delighted to welcome communities from across the Thames Valley to our Force Open Day.
“This important event gives people the opportunity to meet some of the officers, staff and volunteers who make up Thames Valley Police and learn more about the wide range of work we do to serve our communities.
“Visitors can expect a fantastic day with displays, activities and opportunities to speak to people from across the organisation.
“We are proud of the service we provide to our communities and look forward to welcoming everyone to Sulhamstead.”
The event runs from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, September 19, at the force’s training centre in Sulhamstead.
