THAMES Valley Police is appealing for a specific witness to come forward following a robbery in Reading.
Between the hours of 9.30pm and 11pm on Wednesday, April 8, a man in his fifties was withdrawing money at an ATM at a Morrisons Daily store on Wensley Road when the offender threatened him with a screwdriver, and demanded money.
The victim asked for his money back over the course of the night, totalling £490.
This frustrated the offender who then assaulted the man, inflicting injuries that caused him to be taken to hospital, where he currently remains.
The offender is described as a white man in his late forties with brown hair.
An unknown member of the public had witnessed the assault, and was in the areas of Wensley Road, Coley Recreation Ground, St Saviours Road, and Hollybrook Road.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Lewis Macauley, said: “We are very keen to speak to the member of the public who witnessed this, as part of our investigation.
“If you were this person, or if you witnessed any part of this incident, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
“Your account could significantly help our enquiries.”
