Reading FC continued their journey in the EFL Cup with an away victory against fellow League One side Stevenage.
Having picked up just one point from their opening two league matches, Reading have fared better in the cup competitions in the opening month of the new campaign.
They continued that trend by beating Stevenage, who have also started the season in League One with a draw and a defeat.
Leam Richardson’s team included a debut for centre-back Conor Masterson, who joined the Royals on a short-term deal after impressing on a trial.
Masterson put ina solid display to help the Royals record a clean sheet on their way to victory.
Jacob Brown, who joined the club on a free earlier in the summer, opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Paddy Lane doubled the advantage in the 24th minute.
The result was put beyond all doubt when substitute Kyreece Lisbie teed up Randall Williams who tapped home from a few yeards out to book Reading’s place in the third-round of the competition.
Reading are back in league action next Wednesday when they host Mansfield Town, who have won one and lost one of their opening two league matches.
