A READING man has been jailed for three years for drug supply after officers found nearly £5,000 of class A drugs.
Gerwyn Williams, aged 62 and of Caribou Walk, Reading, was sentenced to three years in prison at Reading Crown Court on Monday, April 13.
It comes after he pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, namely heroin and cocaine on January 27.
One day earlier, on January 26, officers stopped a black Vauxhall Mokka on Lower Earley Way, of which Williams was the driver.
He was detained for a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act, and four tinted wraps of crack cocaine and eight wraps of heroin were found concealed in Williams’ sock.
He also had a phone and £160 in his wallet.
Officers then attended Williams’ home address and executed a Section 8 PACE warrant.
Inside the property they found a knotted bag containing 47 wraps containing crack cocaine, which was found alongside another plastic bag containing more than 40g of heroin, and a pink coloured wrap containing nearly 7g of crack cocaine.
The total quantity of Class A drugs had a street value in the region of £4480.
He was arrested the same day and charged the following day.
Investigating officer, PC James Dunwell of the Reading Proactive team, said: “Our team will target and prosecute offenders like Williams, and our activity will be both visible and covert aimed at disrupting and pursuing offenders involved in the supply of drugs.
“The information from the public around the drug supply offences in Reading plays an important role in developing intelligence into a proactive investigation.
