Rumours of an alleged stabbing at Reading Festival have been dismissed by Thames Valley Police, which said there have been no stabbings at the festival this year.
The force said it was aware of claims circulating online about an incident at the festival on Friday night (28 August).
However, Thames Valley Police confirmed the reports were false.
The police force said: “We can confirm that these rumours are false. There have been no stabbings at Reading Festival 2026.”
It urged festivalgoers and the wider public not to share unverified information online, warning that rumours could cause unnecessary concern for people attending the event and their families.
The force also encouraged people to rely on its official channels for updates from the festival.
Reading Festival is taking place at Richfield Avenue over the bank holiday weekend, with thousands of music fans attending performances across the site.
Thames Valley Police has a dedicated presence at the festival, with officers also running safety and consent campaigns during the event.
The festival continues on Saturday and Sunday, with headliners including RAYE, Dave and Chase & Status among those performing this weekend.
