The NHS in the South East is today launching its Spring COVID‑19 vaccination programme, with eligible people now able to book appointments through the National Booking Service or by calling 119.
The vaccine offers vital protection to those at highest risk of serious illness from COVID‑19.
This year’s programme follows the Government’s acceptance of Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advice confirming the eligible groups for spring 2026.
The window to get vaccinated is open until June 30, with the NHS encouraging people to book as early as possible.
The vaccine is being offered to adults aged 75 and over (including individuals who turn 75 years old by 30 June); residents of older adult care homes; and those aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system
The National Booking Service (NBS) opened on April 7 for appointments to be booked, ahead of vaccinations beginning today, and will remain open for the duration of the programme.
Appointments will be available at community pharmacies, GP practices and designated vaccination sites across the South East.
Last spring, between April 1 and June 17, a total of 734,790 people across the South East came forward for their COVID‑19 vaccination — an uptake rate of 59.1% among eligible groups.
This strong response demonstrates the continued commitment of residents to protecting themselves and their communities.
In 2025, more than 1.2 million people in the region were eligible, and local NHS teams delivered thousands of appointments each day through GP practices and pharmacies, including vaccinations for care home residents and housebound patients.
COVID‑19 protection fades over time, and NHS leaders continue to stress the importance of topping up immunity for those eligible.
Caroline Reid, NHS South East’s Director of Commissioning, said: “Protection against COVID‑19 decreases over time, so this spring’s vaccination offer is an important opportunity for those most at risk to boost their immunity.
“Getting this extra dose reduces your risk of becoming very unwell, helps you recover faster if you do catch it, and reduces the chance of needing hospital treatment.”
