Shinfield pub to close temporarily after firefighters tackle blaze for almost five hours

A popular pub in Shinfield has announced that it will close its doors for a period of time after they suffered damage during a fire in the early hours of Friday morning.

Fire crews received reports of a fire at a commercial premises on Shinfield Road at around 3am on Friday, January 17.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were at the scene of the fire for almost five hours, while one crew returned the next day to reinspect the property.

Taking to social media to update their customers, the Shinfield Arms said: “We have temporarily closed our doors whilst we undertake essential maintenance work, to repair fire damage suffered to the pub in the early hours of Friday 17th January.

“We will inform you as soon as possible when the pub will re-open to trade via our website & social media.

“We foresee re-opening for drinks trade as soon as is safe to do so, as permitted by the local authorities.
