Police have stepped up patrols in Reading town centre, with officers carrying out targeted patrols and taking action over anti-social behaviour and public drug use.
The Reading Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team (NHPT) said officers had been out across the town over the weekend, engaging with residents, businesses and visitors.
Officers attended the Reading Cycle Event, where they spoke to cyclists about preventing bike theft and offered free bike marking to help protect bicycles.
The team also attended the Down at the Abbey Music Festival, providing crime prevention advice and speaking to members of the public.
Alongside the community events, officers carried out foot patrols throughout the town centre.
Police said targeted patrols were also conducted in areas highlighted by members of the public, with officers focusing on issues raised by the local community.
The force said officers had continued to take action against anti-social behaviour and public drug use, including issuing Community Protection Warnings to people whose behaviour was having a negative impact on others.
Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) have also been delivering consent awareness talks at local colleges.
The NHPT said further activity was planned, adding that officers would continue working to keep Reading town centre “a safe and welcoming place for everyone”.
Residents and visitors have been encouraged to speak to officers when they see them on patrol to raise concerns or discuss issues affecting their area.
