It’s only rock n roll … well an AC/DC cover … but I like it.

This week we have three more great new entries into our RaW Sounds Today playlist and at the top of the tree is one of our favourite bands, Third Lung. Once again, they are innovating by putting their stamp on a familiar tune.

You’ll love it, and every one of the acts in this week’s chart. We have 10 great tracks for your aural pleasure, and it’s available for free on Spotify. Our playlist is a mixture that will help you discover something new.

To hear this week’s selection, simply head to https://bit.ly/rawsoundstodayand enjoy the music.

There is also a Facebook page and group chat that bands and music fans can tap into. You can search for RaW Sounds Today and it will come up.

Third Lung – It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N ’Roll)

They topped our Top 20 of 2022 and now Third Lung release their first single since signing to the legendary Marquee Records label. What a surprise it is too.

We weren’t expecting a cover and certainly not an AC/DC cover.

However, it’s a wonderful surprise as the band have certainly put their stamp on the song with a brilliantly unique version.

Following a mellow start with a wonderful vocal performance from Tom Farrelly, the band builds to a powerful ending which includes brilliant guitar playing from Cams Jurasek.

It may be a long way to the top but Third Lung are certainly making that climb – http://thirdlungband.com/

Echobelly – Great Things

Readipop is nearly here. It’s on the weekend of July 14-16, and, as always for this festival, the lineup is impressive. Here’s a band playing on the Saturday.

It’s Echobelly with one of their many classics from those Britpop days. This is from their album, On, which got to No 4 in the Album Chart – https://www.echobelly.com/

Adomania – At The Party

As well as visiting artists, like Echobelly, Readipop also features many from the local area and one of those is, Adomania, a fave of ours. Madeleine, from the band, will also be performing an Adomania solo set at Wokingham Festival in August so well worth checking out the full band at Readipop and then getting along to Wokingham to check out Madeleine’s solo set too – https://www.facebook.com/AdomaniaBand

Lambrini Girls – Boys in the Band

This Brighton three-piece are considered to be one of the hottest new bands around and they showed that at Reading’s Are You Listening? Festival and also at Dog Day Afternoon Festival when we went on a road trip there. They were on an amazing bill with Iggy Pop, Blondie and more – https://www.facebook.com/LambriniGirlsband

Heathen Apostles – Gothic Western Haunt

Club Velocity/New Mind Promotions keep bringing very interesting artists to the area and here’s another great example. Get down to Reading face Bar on July 21 for LA based Gothic Americana – https://heathenapostles.com/

Michael Burns-Peake – 23

Here’s a new single from a local singer-songwriter who opens Wokingham Festival’s Main Stage in August – https://www.facebook.com/MichaelBPMusic

That Joe Payne – Falling in Love is Easy

Joe visited Bracknell a few weeks ago to perform a flamboyant uplifting set with his excellent band at the Pride Festival. Here’s his latest single with an 80s feel and an earworm chorus – https://www.thatjoepayne.com/

Nell Bryden – Hail Mary

Nell was born in New York but now lives In London and there’s a chance to see her live when she visits Wokingham Music Club at Whitty Theatre show this Friday, July 7. This is on her latest EP, Believe Again – https://www.nellbryden.com/

Jo Bartlett – Floating Through

Jo, who is from Sandhurst, has released another great new single. It has a wonderful dreamy feel created by synths, guitars and more – https://www.facebook.com/JoBartlettMusic

One Eyed Man – Been Up All Day

One Eyed Man aka Stuart Hutton has been going down well at festivals and gigs throughout the country. This is from his Solstice EP and he will be live at Wokingham Festival in August – https://www.facebook.com/TheOneEyedManOfficial
