UP TO 60 people were involved in a mass brawl in Reading town centre last weekend and police are now appealing for witnesses.

The incident took place around 3.30am on Sunday, December 17 (Saturday night into Sunday morning) at the junction of West Street with Friar Street.

Thames Valley Police said it is believed an altercation took place between two groups before this brawl, which was thought to have seen between 40 and 60 people involved.

A 31-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of affray and officers said they were encircled by a large group. The man has been bailed until March 12.

Investigating officer PC Nathan Tingley, based at Reading police station, said: “This was a large incident of public disorder, and I would like to appeal to anybody who witnessed this, or who may have mobile phone, dash-cam of CCTV footage of the incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“You can make a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43230563705.
