A drug dealer who tried to flee police officers along a riverside path in Reading has been jailed for more than two years.
Hassan Nour, 38, of Mandela Close in Brent, London, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison after admitting a series of drug offences.
Thames Valley Police said Nour attempted to run away after spotting officers in the Kings Meadow area of Reading on 13 January.
Police chased him along the Thames towpath before arresting him nearby.
During searches of the area, officers found 18 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine on the edge of the riverbank, with another 51 wraps discovered close by.
Nour later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin, possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of cannabis.
Police said the case highlighted their ongoing work to tackle drug dealing in Reading and across Berkshire.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Drug dealing brings harm and misery to our communities and exploits vulnerable people.
“We will continue to target and disrupt those responsible.”
The force is continuing to urge members of the public to report information about suspected drug activity through 101 or its online reporting service.
