A match ticket from a 1954/55 game at Elm Park between Reading and Manchester United has sold for its lower guide price of £1,000 at an auction this morning,
The ticket tub allowed admission to the ground for the FA Cup third round match on 8 January 1955.
It was described as being “exceedingly rare”, and was guided at £1,000 to £1,200, plus fees.
It cost 2/6 at the time, equivalent to somewhere between £5 and £10 using today’s purchasing power.
A spokesperson for Sporting Gold told Wokingham Today: “This is an exceptionally scarce ticket.
“The last one that appeared sold for £1,400.
The winning bidder could have also opted to purchase three adult season tickets to watch the club for the entire 2025/26 season for the same cost.
