A driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after allegedly delaying police officers responding to a serious injury incident in Calcot.
Police said an emergency vehicle was held up in Calcot on Friday night when the driver of a BMW failed to move aside despite blue lights and sirens being activated.
Officers said the car remained in lane two, forcing what they described as a prolonged effort to get past before colleagues helped stop the vehicle.
The driver was arrested after roadside checks indicated he was more than twice the legal alcohol limit, police said.
He was taken into custody and could face a minimum 12-month driving ban if convicted.
Police said the delay affected officers travelling to a serious injury incident and urged motorists to make way for emergency vehicles when it is safe to do so.
