Police are appealing for help to identify a man following reports that a young girl was assaulted in Reading.
Thames Valley Police said a witness reported seeing a man remove his leather belt and strike the girl across her lower back at about 1.25pm on Thursday, 3 September.
The incident was reported to have taken place on Queens Road, as the group headed towards Watlington Street.
Police said the man was accompanied by a woman wearing a long skirt, headscarf and green floral shawl.
They were also with another young child, described as a boy aged about two, who was in a buggy.
The man is described as having a thin build, with black hair and a beard, and is believed to be of Middle Eastern or Asian appearance.
