Reading FC manager Ruben Selles admitted his players and staff cannot continue coping with ‘chaos and uncertainty’ due to off the field issues.
Everyone connected with the club has had to endure a long running ownership saga under the reign of Dai Yongge who is currently in negotiations to sell the club.
However, the staff, players and fans are still having to put up with off the field distractions while the club is still in Dai’s control with the latest being a proposed deal to sell Bearwood Park training ground to League one rivals Wycombe Wanderers.despartae to the sale of the club.
“My reaction is the same. It’s arriving to a point where I told you a couple of weeks ago that we can’t cope with those things anymore,” said Selles when questioned about the potential sale of Bearwood
“We passed the time where people talk about the pep talks and control the controllables and focus on your thing.
“There has been too much around us and at some point it needs to stop.
“We cannot continue coping with the chaos and uncertainty that is making people leave us.
“Someone from the medical staff this week asked to go to another club because people want to feel safe and we are not making our people feel safe.”
Selles paid tribute to his staff and players for being able to focus on Saturday’s game with Cambridge United despite the news of the potential sale of Bearwood being followed by rumours of the club being in advanced talks with a North American investment group over a takeover.
The Royals were able to move further away from the League One relegation places with an impressive 4-0 victory over Cambridge United.
Selles continued: “The only thing we have right now is the football bubble we have created together with the fans, together with the players and we are asking for calmness around us. Nothing more.
“There has been a lot of chaos on Thursday and Friday but somehow we managed to be focused on the game and preparing in the proper way and getting a victory that was important.”
