The cost of Reading FC’s deal to sign defender and former Burton Albion captain Udoka Godwin-Malife has been revealed.
The 26-year-old signed on the dotted line for the Royals earlier this week as Leam Richardson made his second acquisition of the summer transfer window.
The Royals have also added bright young talent Kyreece Lisbie to their ranks after beating competition from several League One clubs to sign the winger from Colchester United on a four-year deal.
Despite the transfer fee being reported as undisclosed by both clubs, BBC Derby Sport have revealed that they understand Reading’s deal to sign Godwin-Malfie has cost the Royals around £500,000 as an overall package.
Godwin-Malife has showed his versatility across the lack having been used as both a centre-back and a right-back throughout his career.
He played 38 of Burton Albion’s 46 League One matches last campaign as they finished in a modest 17th place. He contributed with two goals and three assists as he played the majority of the games (36) as a centre-back.
The defender has also represented Oxford City, Forest Green Rovers, Eastleigh and Swindon Town before moving to Burton in 2024.
Following two impressive seasons in League One with the Brewers, Godwin-Malife will now be looking to make an impact as a Royal having penned a three-year deal with the Berkshire club.
