OAKBANK School has seen its “best ever” results as student collect their GCSE grades today.

The school says student grades represent “significant progress across the school” and reflect the hard work, resilience and determination of students, supported by their parents, carers and staff, in the school’ss first year since joining the Greenshaw Learning Trust in September 2025.

Among the statistical highlights were reports that 58% of students achieved a Grade 4 or higher in both English and Mathematics, a significant improvement on last year, and 72% of students achieved a Grade 4 or higher in English.

Nine in ten students with attendance at or above 90% secured at least a Grade 4 in both English and Mathematics.

Strong progress was seen across key subjects, including Geography, History, Hospitality and Catering, Design and Technology, and Religious Education.

A significant rise in the number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in Science.

At the same time, the majority of subjects saw a surge in top grades (Grades 7–9), with some courses increasing the number of students achieving these highest grades by up to 25%.

It highlighted a number of outstanding individual achievements are also worth celebrating, including Matthew, who earned five Grade 9s alongside his commitments as a British gymnast; Bailey, who secured four Grade 9s; and Melody, who achieved three Grade 9s.

They also included Amos, who secured a Grade 9 in English; and Sophie, who achieved two Grade 9s.

Regardless of individual scores, Oakbank says it is immensely proud of its Year 11 cohort for their adaptability, resilience and character during a period of rapid, positive improvement at the school.

Mr Gerrard, Headteacher, said: “These results prove that our school is moving firmly in the right direction, but our ambitions remain higher still.

“As we prepare for the new academic year, we are fully committed to building on these strong foundations so that every student at Oakbank School receives the exceptional education and outcomes they deserve, in a school where they are safe, successful and feel a real sense of belonging.

“We are confident that Oakbank will continue to go from strength to strength and aspire to become one of the highest-performing schools in Reading and Wokingham.”
