THAMES Valley School says that today marks an important milestone as students collect their GCSE results.
The school, which supports autistic children and young people in Reading, has commended students on years of hard work, commitment, and progress.
The Year 11 cohort has worked towards a range of qualifications this year, with students following different pathways according to their individual goals and needs.
Alongside their academic studies, students have also developed practical, social and independent living skills to help prepare them for further education, college, training and other post-16 opportunities.
Thames Valley School says that the results are “a reflection of the individual journeys of each student, with staff and families celebrating not only their qualifications, but the determination and progress that has helped them reach this point.”
Among those celebrating today are Harry, who achieved 8 qualifications, including Maths 8, Science 9,8, Computer Science 7, and Geography 6.
He particularly enjoyed taking part in the Geography Field Trip and writing programs in Computer Science lessons.
He is now looking forward to Reading College, with ambitions to work in the Technology Sector.
Also celebrating is Ellis, after achieving 8 qualifications, with a grade 9 in Mathematics a particular highlight.
Ellis worked hard developing his confidence in non preferred subjects and his results show that his hard work paid off.
He will now move on to a sixth form college.
Gemma Buley, Headteacher at Thames Valley School, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our students and everything they have achieved. Every young person has followed their own pathway through school, so today is about celebrating those individual successes and recognising the hard work behind them.
“We’ve seen our students grow in confidence, develop new skills and overcome challenges along the way.
“It’s wonderful to see them celebrating today and looking ahead to their next steps. I’d like to thank our staff team and families for the support they have given our young people and for helping them to reach this important milestone.”
Nic Crossley, CEO of Liberty Academy Trust, added: “A huge congratulations to all the students at Thames Valley School.
“Their achievements today reflect not only their academic progress, but the confidence, resilience and independence they have developed during their time at the school.
“We’re incredibly proud of each student and the individual journey they have taken.
“I’d also like to recognise the dedication of the staff and families who support them every day. I wish all of our Year 11 students every success and happiness as they move on to the next stage of their lives.”
