Traffic chaos in Reading after police close Caversham Bridge Road due to incident

Caversham Road has now reopened following the earlier incident.

Thames Valley Police posted to social media, saying: “Following the incident in Caversham Road this morning, three men have now been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.

Caversham Road is now open and officers will remain in the area to provide reassurance.

COMMUTERS are facing a difficult morning after a road in Reading was closed by police.

Caversham Bridge Road, between the TGI Friday roundabout and Caversham Bridge roundabout, is affected.

It was shut around 6.30am on Thursday, December 8.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service is on the scene are urging people to avoid the area.

There has also been a road traffic collision reported on Caversham Bridge itself, adding to the delays.

As a result, traffic across the greater Reading area has been snarled up all morning.

There are delays along the Oxford Road up to Tilehurst railway station, along the IDR right up to the A33,  across Caversham as people try to cross the roads, and along Richfield Avenue.

Thames Valley Police has yet to comment on the closure.
