The Supporters Trust at Reading FC has reacted to the news that Reading owner Dai Yongge has been disqualified by the English Football League (EFL).
With Dai Yongge and former prospective buyer Rob Couhig locked in a legal battle in the courts, it was confirmed yesterday by the EFL that they have suspended Yongge in order to try and force a sale of the club.
However, that now gives the club a deadline of May 4 for the club to be sold or they could face disqualification from the EFL.
STAR released a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, which said: “Well, that was a day wasn’t it?
“We’re all still digesting the news , but there are reasons to be positive.
“While the legal action continues, Justice Jacobs made it clear that the club can be sold and outlined a clear route to sale. We will do everything in our power to help fans understand more about this process and encourage all parties to pursue this route of least resistance.
“As for the small matter of disqualification, this is something we have been campaigning towards for over a year. We wish it had come sooner and while we know it will make fans anxious – we are hopeful this deadline adds some much needed urgency to our plight and take the EFL at their word that they are everything in their power to accelerate a sale.
“Finally, we understand the past few days have been incredibly stressful and encourage all Reading fans to look after each other and reach out if you need to. @TalkingRoyals are always here to listen.”
