Kingfisher A edged closer to confirming the Division One title with a 10-0 win away to Tilehurst RBL A, who put up little resistance.

Second Place Our Lady of Peace A stuttered with only two players but still managed to edge out Sonning Common & Peppard B 6-4, Sonning’s additional point originating from the bat of Matt Isherwood with an excellent win over Steve Murgatroyd.

While for OLOP Ian Cole continued his impressive recent run without dropping an end.

At the bottom end of the table, Reading FC suffered a 2-8 loss at home to Kingfisher D. Julian Telford and young Ethan Zheng picked up two each, both losing out to Mike Childs in closely fought encounters.

But Mike could not convert a 2-0 lead over Graham Mendick, who once again earned his maximum.

Despite Prayrit Ahluwalia scoring another triple, Kingfisher C remain stuck in the relegation zone after a 4-6 loss against Kingfisher B.

Elsewhere, reserve Dale Ballard outscored his Tidmarsh A team mates which included an unexpected 3-0 victory over Sonning Common & Peppard A’s Neil Hurford.

The end result was 4-6 in Sonning Common’s favour with Jamie Barlow remaining unbeaten for them.

Sonning Common & Peppard D’s title ambitions from division two took a slight knock when they could only field two players and went down to a 4-6 defeat against Kingfisher G.

The two highlight sets were SC&P’s star player Danny Dockree having a very close set against Neil Dellar before winning 11-9 in the fifth, plus the doubles where the SC&P team recovered from two games to one down and 5-10 down in the fourth to win in five.

Tidmarsh B and the improved Kingfisher E had a close match which the Tidmarsh team just edged 6-4 with Tidmarsh’s Dale Ballard getting an impressive three straight maximum.

Our Lady of Peace B beat a Tilehurst Methodists A team, minus their star player Eric Van Looy, 7-3. Bill Stamatiou had two good win for Tilehurst including beating Darek Kaminski and the set of the night was Darek’s win in five against Phil Jones.

The competition in division 3 heated up as three thrilling matches took place, and a new leader emerged at the top of the table.

Springfield A has taken the top spot, although with one more game played than 2nd placed Pangbourne WMC.

Our Lady of Peace E came out on top with a 9-1 victory against Sonning Sports B. Louise Forster and Parvin Baishkiyar contributed to the win three wins apiece while Harry Bullock chipped in with two wins.

Meanwhile, Sonning Sports B’s only win came from Keith Machin. Kingfisher H gave division leaders Pangbourne WMC a real run for their money and managed to secure a 5-5 draw. The match was full of five-setter games and close wins, with a Clive Taylor treble and last-game win saving Pangbourne from their first defeat of the season.

The standout moment of the match was the intense five-setter doubles match, with Pangbourne once again coming close to their first loss of the season in doubles.

Despite Kingfisher H’s valiant effort, they were unable to convert a match point and eventually lost 11-6 9-11 11-6 11-13 8-11. Pangbourne’s John Simmonds had a tough day, losing two games in the fifth set.

Springfield A secured a 7-3 victory against Our Lady of Peace D to become the new leaders of the division. Rob Wilkie had a fantastic day with a maximum of three wins, while Graham Stark from OLOP D managed to steal one win from both Jason King and Peter Gurney.

The highlight of the match was the thrilling double match, which went down to the wire and ended in a fifth set that was won by OLOP 8-11 13-11 11-9 9-11 11-6.

Despite a Walter Aldridge maximum Kingfisher I still lost 4-6 at home to division four promotion challengers Tilehurst Royal British Legion C, for whom Linda King and Jim Brent gained doubles.

Sonning Common and Peppard E won 7-3 at Kingfisher J with Anthony Reeve gaining a three straight treble, while Tilehurst Methodists C went to the top by winning 10-0 at Our Lady of Peace G, the hat trick men being Steve Christelow, Andrew Stone and Lewis Oke for the Methodists.

Our Lady of Peace G then bounced back by beating fellow strugglers Sonning Sports C 6-4 with Fitzroy Licorish and Pat Daniels both winning all three.
