A DEGREE show exhibition exploring personal memory, emotional connections, and sentimentality through still life painting is opening on the Reading riverside this week.
What Time Leaves Behind, a solo exhibition by fine art student Samantha Watkins, will run at The Turbine House at Blake’s Lock from Wednesday, Sept 2.
Presented as part of her final year of degree study with the Open College of the Arts and Open University, the show features colourful compositions of found and preloved objects.
Watkins incorporates damaged items with visible cracks, chips, and wear to reflect the passage of time, inviting viewers to interpret the personal attachments tied to everyday things.
The artist will be present at the venue throughout the four-day run to meet visitors and discuss her work.
There will also be a number of informal workshops taking place during the exhibition.
What Time Leaves Behind will take place at The Turbine House, Riverside Museum at Blake’s Lock, from 10am-6pm, Wednesday-Saturday (September 2-5).
