A go-karting business in Reading has applied to sell alcohol until midnight and play music at its venue in the town.
TeamSport Go Karting has operated in Reading for more than a decade since December 2014.
More recently, in 2023, it underwent a £1.35 million renovation to introduce electric karts and the ‘Combat Kart’ virtual experience to the venue.
Now the business is seeking to expand its activities for guests.
The venue already sells alcohol from a bar, with a range of beers, ciders, wines and spirits as well as hot and soft drinks to customers.
Recently, the company applied to sell alcohol from 12pm to midnight each day, and play recorded music from 9am to midnight on weekdays, and from 7am to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays.
This was submitted in an application to Reading Borough Council.
A statutory consultation into the application is currently live, which you can take part in by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.
The deadline for responses closes on Tuesday, September 15.
The bid for alcohol sales and music appears on the council’s ‘current premises licence applications’ webpage.
But there appears to be a discrepancy with the address of the business.
The location provided in the application is 80 Broad Street, which is occupied by the Chopstix Noodle Bar.
However, go-karting activities in Reading have always operated out of its unit at Cradock Road in Whitley.
It is unclear whether the address listing was an error on the business’s part or an anomaly on the website.
The council’s licensing team has been contacted for clarification.
