Reading FC have signed experienced forward Jamie Reid on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 32-year-old joins the Royals from Stevenage, bringing an end to a five-year spell with the League One side.
Reid scored 69 goals in 245 appearances for Stevenage and helped the club win promotion from League Two during his time at the Lamex Stadium.
He was also named in the League One Team of the Season after scoring 22 goals during the 2023-24 campaign.
The striker arrives at Reading following another productive season, having scored 14 goals as Stevenage finished fifth in League One and reached the play-offs.
Born and raised in Devon, Reid began his career with Exeter City and went on to make more than 175 appearances for hometown club Torquay United.
His goalscoring form for Torquay earned him a move into the Football League with Mansfield Town before he later joined Stevenage.
Reid’s performances have also been recognised internationally, with the forward scoring twice in 16 appearances for Northern Ireland.
Reading manager Leam Richardson said Reid was a “proven goalscorer” who would bring valuable experience to his squad.
“Jamie is a proven goalscorer at this level and somebody who has consistently shown what he can bring to a team over a number of years,” he said.
“He works incredibly hard, he’s intelligent with his movement and he knows where the goal is.
“He’s got a lot of experience and, importantly for us, he’s a really good character.
“He knows this division inside out, he understands what it takes to be successful and you can see he’s still got a real hunger to achieve more.”
