SONNING Common Primary is on course to upgrade its sports facilities.

The school is holding a 10k run to raise funds for an all-weather track to promote an active, healthy lifestyle for pupils.

The event is being organised by parents who hope it will enable both staff and pupils to walk or run a mile on a regular basis.

A spokesperson for the parents group behind the run said: “This is a great opportunity to support our wonderful school whilst also participating in a chip-timed 10k around Sonning Common and the surrounding countryside.

“We have received generous support from main sponsors Badgemore Park and Shiplake College, without whom, it simply would not be possible to stage the race and raise money for the school. A special thanks to Beville Estate Agent who are also supporting us with all the signage and advertising.”
