Roadworks at a busy roundabout are causing long queues of traffic for drivers in Reading.
Thames Water contractors are working at the roundabout junction of Basingstoke Road, Whitley Wood Lane and Imperial Way in Reading.
Three-way traffic lights have been installed to control traffic, causing long queues.
This means it is taking longer for shoppers to get into the Lidl in Basingstoke Road by car, as well as delays for drivers using the road to get to and from Junction 11 of the M4.
The work began at 8am yesterday (Wednesday, July 22) and is due to end at 5pm on Wednesday, July 29.
A part of the roundabout opposite the Deep Blue fish and chip shop is required to be closed by Thames Water contractors while they carry out utility repairs and maintenance works.
This means drivers heading southbound from Basingstoke Road have to go the wrong way around the roundabout.
Queues in Basingstoke Road, Whitley Wood Lane and Imperial Way were spotted during the morning rush hour on Thursday, July 23.
Crews were spotted drilling into the pavement and accessing the underground water network.
There are also traffic lights in Basingstoke Road near its junction with Manor Farm Road.
Meanwhile, the permit for the closure of the junction of Bennet Road and the A33 has been extended until Thursday, September 10.
