MEMBERS of a Reading history group will be able to discuss a new book about the town’s Christian origins, at their next meeting.
Vice-chairman of The History of Reading Society, John Dearing, will share insights with the group, about his new book, ‘How The Good News Came to Reading’.
John’s talk will take listeners on a whistle-stop tour from fourth century beginnings, through the founding of Reading Abbey, the Reformation, the Evangelical and Tractarian revivals, and into the present day.
There will also be a book sale at this meeting, along with copies of ‘How The Good News Came to Reading’ to buy.
The event will take place at tAbbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, Reading, on Wednesday, September 16.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Entry is free for members, and £2 for visitors.
