Progress is being made on a project to replace offices in Reading with a logistics hub down a road that has been partially closed for months on end.

The Bennet Court offices have been demolished to make way for ‘Greenlight Reading’, an industrial unit and logistics hub in Whitley.

It is located in Bennet Road, which has been partially closed since October 18 last year.

Work on the building is nearly finished for availability in July.

That is just one of the planning updates in Reading over the last few days.

In the town centre, an ice cream parlour is gearing up to take over a travel agents, and an office in a historic building is being turned into a home.

The building in Castle Street is Grade II listed as it dates back to the 16th century.

A project is underway to convert some of the rooms in the building into a home, with repairs and renovations to the facade.

An assessment by planning officer Marcelina Rejwerska found the changes to be acceptable, and states that the building has had a mix of commercial and residential uses for years, therefore no change of use application was required.
