STUDENTS at Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre have secured their best ever set of GCSE results as they were collected today.
The school announced that 37% of all entries being awarded the top grades (9, 8 and 7), and over 81% of students achieving a Grade 4 or higher in both English and Maths, with over 65% of students achieving a Grade 5 or better in both subjects.
These successes were also matched by excellent performances in the Sciences with Highdown students awarded 73 Grade 9s across Biology, Chemistry and Physics alone; Music, Music Technology and Hair and Beauty were also strong, keeping their record of great results for the second year running.
The school expressed particular pride in those students who took the challenge of studying Further Maths in their own time: every Friday after school– 72% of this group were awarded a Grade 7 or above.
It also highlighted Ellie Chan, who received 11 Grade 9s; Samuel Boughton, with ten Grade 9s; Katla Baldursdottir, with nine Grade 9s; George Busby, with nine Grade 9s; Jacob Payne, with nine Grade 9s; Nik Wong, with nine Grade 9s; and Lexi Godsell, with eight Grade 9s.

“These outcomes do not happen by accident and are a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students as well as the excellent support and guidance provided by staff and parents.”
