A READING man has been jailed for a string driving and drug offences, as well as criminal damage.
Lewis Collier, aged 21, of Alan Place, Reading has been sentenced to two years and two months’ imprisonment following a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on June 30.
Collier pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing back in May to a count each of dangerous driving; possession with the intent to supply class B drugs, namely cannabis; criminal damage; acquiring/using/possessing criminal property; failing to stop at a road traffic collision; driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and insurance; and using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance.
It comes after, on April 9 this year, officers saw a grey Audi A6 on Coronation Square, Reading.
Upon seeing officers, the driver reversed, mounted a pavement, collided with a stationary vehicle, and made off at speed.
He then drove towards Southcote Lane before crashing into the Sulham Walk Road sign.
Collier left the vehicle and jumped over garden fences in Hatford Road before he was arrested.
He was subsequently charged on April 10.
Investigating officer PC James Dunwell, of the Reading Proactive Crime Team, said: “Our team will target and prosecute offenders and our activity will be both visible and covert, aimed at disrupting and pursuing offenders involved in the supply of drugs.
