THAMES Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted rape in Reading.
At around 9.10pm on Wednesday, October 25, a woman in her thirties was walking down Oxford Road when a man unknown to her approached and spoke to her.
He then followed her to Norcot Hill Cemetery near to Edgar Milward Close where he tried to rape her.
The victim managed to fight him off and ran away.
The offender is described as a man approximately in his thirties, 5ft 5ins tall and of stocky build, with brown eyes.
He was wearing a black tracksuit with the hood up, a facemask, and black shoes, carrying a dark blue drawstring bag which appeared to be empty.
Detective Inspector Ben Beasley, based at Reading police station, said: “I understand this is an upsetting incident to hear about and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to one of our uniformed officers.
“We are investigating this attempted rape as a priority and have been at the scene since it was reported to us, but we have now left.
“However, officers will also be conducting additional patrols on Oxford Road over the coming days to provide reassurance to the community.
