READING FC manager Paul Ince was left with mixed emotions after his side played out a goalless draw against Luton Town on Tuesday night.
He said: “We weren’t clinical enough. We had some great chances today. As far as the performance was concerned it was great.
“Keeping a clean sheet here is never easy, it is a tight ground, and the crowd are on you. It was a great atmosphere.
“Nathan [Jones] has them going every game. To come here after the disappointment of Saturday, we put in a battling performance. It was always going to be a battle.
The Royals’ boss said he had not been able to erase the memory of a controversial loss to Burnley on Saturday.
“I still haven’t got over the Burnley game, I haven’t slept for two days,” he explained.
“I hate it because I look at Swansea and being two up, conceding a last-minute penalty at QPR, Burnley we were robbed. We should be on another four or five points. Today was important because you’re playing a team who play the way they play and they’re very good at it.”
The visitors were without four first team centre-backs and Ince was swift to question a tight schedule.
He said: “Who’s deciding this? Is it the EFL or Sky? We accept that we get punished for breaching the rules two years ago and the embargo.
“We accept we have a mix and match team, but surely the amount of games they’re giving us- someone, somewhere down the line is trying to make sure we go down.
“It’s a nice thing to have as it gives us a fighting spirit. I’ve never seen as many teams play as many games on Sky, why are they showing Reading Preston? No disrespect but there’s better games on the Saturday to show.”
