THERE is now just one month left for eligible people in the South East to get their spring COVID-19 vaccination before the offer ends on June 30.
More than 618,000 spring COVID-19 vaccinations have already been delivered across the region since the campaign began on 13 April 2026, with the South East recording the second highest total in England.
The NHS is encouraging those most at risk of serious illness from COVID-19 to come forward as soon as possible to top up their protection.
COVID-19 continues to circulate and can still cause serious illness, particularly in older people and those with weakened immune systems.
Protection from previous vaccination or infection can wane over time, and the spring dose helps boost immunity for those at highest risk.
Following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), the NHS is offering the COVID-19 vaccine this spring to those at highest risk of severe disease.
This includes; adults aged 75 years and over (including those who turn 75 by 30 June 2026); residents in care homes for older adults; and those aged 6 months and over, with a weakened immune system.
With less than a month left in the programme, eligible people are being urged not to delay.
Appointments are available through GP practices, community pharmacies and walk-in sites, and eligible people do not need to wait for an invitation before booking.
Caroline Reid, NHS South East’s Director of Commissioning, said: “It is great to see that more than 600,000 people across the South East have already come forward for their spring COVID-19 vaccination, showing how many people are taking up this important protection.
“For older people, care home residents and those with weakened immune systems, this extra dose offers valuable protection and can help reduce the risk of serious illness and hospitalisation.
“If you are eligible and have not yet booked, there is still time to come forward and get protected before the offer ends on 30 June.”
UK Health Security Agency data from the Spring 2025 COVID-19 vaccination programme showed that people who received a COVID-19 vaccine were around 50% less likely to be admitted to hospital with the virus.
