Reading lost out for the third successive game in all competitions with an away defeat to Leyton Orient which sees them drop down to 8th in League One.
Reading were looking to get back to winning ways following their disappointing home defeat to Stockport County last weekend.
Wolves loanee Chem Campbell started on the right-wing, while teenage star Andre Garcia was deployed out on the left-wing
Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan was again named on the bench following a long spell on the sidelines with injury.
Noel Hunt was forced into a very early change when Jeriel Dorsett picked up an injury just six minutes in and was replaced by Abarham Kanu.
Following a forgettable opening half hour to the game, it was Joel Pereira who was called upon to make a vital one-on-one save from Dilan Makanday.
However, just moments later Makanday seized his opportunity to put Orient ahead as the hosts attacked quickly after stealing possession from Campbell.
Bookings for Michael Craig and Sam Smith brought the first-half to a close as Reading went in trailing by a goal.
Orient quickly doubled their lead after the restart to get a strong hold on the game when Charlie Kelman pounced from close range.
Hunt responded by making a double change as Ehibhatiomhan and Mamadi Camara took the places of Campbell and Kanu.
However, Reading weren’t able to get back into the game as they fell to their third successive defeat in all competitions.
The result sees Reading drop down to 8th in the table on 41 points from 26 games. They are back in action on Tuesday night when they face relegation battling Burton Albion away from home.
