GREAT Western Railway has laid out its service levels as strike action continues.

It is reminding customers that major disruption across the whole network will be subject to extremely limited services as a result of both industrial action and planned engineering works.

On Saturday, January 7, customers are advised to avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary and to seek other modes of transport wherever possible.

All services will only operate from 7.30am and will be terminated by 6.30pm.

The only London-bound services in operation will be between Paddington and Oxford, Didcot Parkway, and Reading.

The only other routes operating will be between Slough and Windsor, Maidenhead and Marlow, Twyford and Henley-on-Thames, Reading and Basingstoke, Didcot and Oxford, Cardiff Central and Westbury, and Bristol and Plymouth.

Due to the nature of the strike action, a number of other rail networks will be subject to severe disruption.

On Sunday, January 8, the network will see reduced services throughout the day, with a later start and the possibility of short-notice cancellations and amendments.

Great Western Railway also expects services to be “extremely busy” and advises customers to check their travel details beforehand.

Planned engineering works will mean that no services will run between Didcot Parkway and Bristol Parkway or Bath Spa.

Trains running between London and Bristol or south Wales will use an alternative route, and will not serve Didcot Parkway, Swindon, or Chippenham.

Shuttle services will run between Swindon and Cheltenham Spa.

Bus replacement services will run between Reading and Bath Spa as well as between Didcot Parkway and Bristol Parkway.

GWR says that customers who have already purchased tickets for strike days can claim a full refund or amend their ticket.

Those who travel and are delayed may be entitled to Delay Repay compensation if they are delayed by 15 minutes or more.

Tickets for January 6 and 7 can be used the day before, or up to and including Tuesday 10 January.

Full details of strike services and refunds is available via: www.gwr.com/strike
