SKY SPORTS pundit and former England international Gary Neville has given his backing to the Reading fans after their pitch invasion on Saturday.
Thousands of Royals fans stormed the pitch which saw their League One clash with Port Vale abandoned.
Speaking on Sky Sports after Manchester United’s Sunday night game with Tottenham, Neville highlighted the events which took place at Reading.
He said: “It shows that fans will stand up for what they believe is right and won’t accept these types of things anymore.
“My heart and thoughts go to the Reading fans.
“We need that regulator so we can get some control in the game and power in the right hands.
“It seems that the fans are helpless to solve these situations. My heart and thoughts go to the Reading fans who are feeling desperate and they shouldn’t feel like that.
“There should be a resolution available to them.”
Sky Sports commentator Peter Drury added: “Really good club, so recently in the Premier League. Proper fans for their town. It has their constituency and they’re feeling pain at the moment so good luck to the mighty Royals.”
