A COMMUNITY festival is set to return in aid of pro-Palestinian causes this weekend.
Following an inaugural event last year, the multi-genre fundraiser returns with live music, speeches from local activists, spoken word, drag performances, a salsa dance demonstration, and a headlining band.
This year’s edition welcomes musicians DeepSonics, Violet Duff, Gabby Llovido, Chris from Halloran, The Lurxx, and Huw Tarry, with a headline set from Jominic Dones and the Strange Attractors, as well as drag from Cairo Iman Ali, Philli Mi Up, and Mojo Jones.
The festival supports pro-Palestinian initiatives and aims to elevate local creative talent; the festival allocates 40% of ticket proceeds to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), with 50% distributed to performing artists and 10% covering event operational costs.
Freedom Festival for Falasteen will take place at the Reading Biscuit Factory on Saturday, August 1 from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Free admission is offered to individuals with Palestinian, Iranian, or Lebanese heritage.
