Former Reading FC striker George Puscas, who is the club’s record transfer, has been released by Turkish club Bodrum.

The 29-year-old forward, who netted eight times in 34 games for Bodrum, is now available as a free agent.

Puscas arrived at Reading in 2019 as a young player full of potential as the club splashed out €7.5million plus €2million in bonuses to purchase the Romanian forward from Inter Milan.

After a fast start where he scored twice on his home debut for the Royals against Cardiff City, Puscas struggled to adapt in England despite scoring 12 Championship goals in 38 in his first season.

He played a total of 91 games for Reading in all competitions and scored 20 times.

After loan spells with Pisa and Genoa in Italy, he joined Genoa on a permanent deal in 2023 for around €1.8million

However, he struggled for form at Genoa and didn’t score a goal in his eight appearances and was shipped out on loan to Serie B side Bari, where he scored four times in 15 games in the 2023/24 season.

He then joined Bodrum in Turkey last season but has now been released.
