Reading FC make the short trip to Wycombe Wanderers this weekend in a League One clash with plenty of connections between the two clubs.
Saturday’s meeting at Adams Park will see Royals owner Rob Couhig return to his former club.
The American businessman was Wycombe’s majority shareholder from 2019 to 2024, playing a key role in the club’s promotion to the Championship in 2020.
He subsequently completed his takeover of Reading in May 2025, meaning Saturday’s fixture could be dubbed the ‘Rob Couhig derby’.
Couhig is now chairman of Reading, while Wycombe are looking to continue a recent upturn in form under interim head coach Tom Hounsell.
The Chairboys have won their last three matches in all competitions, beating Chelsea Under-21s in the EFL Trophy before league victories over Leyton Orient and Wigan Athletic.
They are currently 14th in League One with nine points from their opening seven matches.
Reading head to Buckinghamshire sitting eighth after collecting 10 points from their opening six league games.
The Royals have won three of their six league matches, with their most recent outing producing a 2-0 home victory over Notts County.
Jack Marriott scored both goals that afternoon and has made a flying start to the campaign.
The striker has eight goals in six League One appearances, making him the division’s leading scorer.
There is another familiar face waiting for Reading at Adams Park in the shape of Jayden Wareham.
The striker left the Royals last summer after turning down a new contract before joining Exeter City.
He moved from Exeter to Wycombe during the summer and has already scored twice in his first three appearances for the Chairboys.
Reading will also be without three players because of international duty.
Andy Rinomhota has been called up by Zimbabwe, Charlie Savage by Wales and Jeriel Dorsett by Montserrat.
The three call-ups meant Reading were eligible to request a postponement under EFL rules, but the club decided to keep Saturday’s fixture as scheduled.
Rinomhota has started every league game for the Royals this season, while Savage and Dorsett have also featured during the campaign.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 3pm at Adams Park.
