EMMBROOK AND BEARWOOD CC fell at the final hurdle as they narrowly lost out to Denham in the Chilterns KO Cup Final.

Contesting the cup final on Friday night at Hurley Cricket Club, Emmbrook were put into bat first in the Twenty20 match.

The Bears opened strongly with Matt Loxton and Ollie Williams at the crease who managed to build a platform of 47 runs before Loxton was removed on 20.

The next few wickets fell quickly and Emmbrook were on 75-4, but they managed to get over the century mark before the arrival of the next wicket.

The Bears ended their innings on 139-7 from 15 overs.

Emmbrook captain Jack Narraway claimed a quick wicket to remove Denham’s opening batsman Nishant Jain for a duck.

However, his opening partner Rasikh Butt, managed to knock a half century to help his team make excellent progress towards the chase.

Emmbrook bowler Charlie Sawyer took three wickets, while Andy Lazenbury took two.

In a tense ending to the match, Denham managed to get over the line to claim the trophy as they moved onto 140 with two wickets to spare after 14.1 overs to take the trophy.

Despite missing out on the trophy, Emmbrook have been in superb form in the BCM Championship and currently lead the race for the title.

After a washout at the weekend postponed their trip to Crowthorne & Crown Wood, the Bears sit top of the table after 12 matches on 389 points which gives them a sizeable lead over second placed Penn & Tylers Green with six matches left.
