ON SUNDAY, December 3, one of Reading’s independent breweries welcomed artists, makers, and other small businesses for a Christmas market.
Double Barrelled Brewery teamed up with Reading Indie Market to bring seasonal sundries and festive gifts to the taproom in Tilehurst.
The event featured jewellery from Charlotte Jones Jewellery and pieces from Charlotte Manser Ceramics alongside accessories from The Big Happy and snacks from Makan Malaysia and Rosie’s Chocolate Factory.
General Manager at the Taproom Ali Evverett said: “We work with Reading Indie Market about four times a year, and the response was fantastic– it was great to see.
“All of the stalls did very well, including Mark, who sells his own games, made from scratch, who was next to the bar.”
He explained: “The stall holders all make a conscious effort to make it festive, and we bring the atmosphere: the tree was up, the Christmas music was on, and the staff were in their Christmas jumpers for that festive feel.
“It’s a free event to attend and everyone is always welcome to the markets– dogs included.
“We’ll also have a Roast Battle at the taproom this Thursday [December 7], and the charity quiz with Gary and Mark, raising money for Reading Deaf Centre on Thursday [December 14.
“And there’s plenty more going on in December, including opening late on Christmas Eve and a big New Year’s Eve party.”
