Crowthorne & Crown Wood CC 3s (265-6) beat Emmbrook and Bearwood CC 3s (105-5)
Crowthorne & Crown Wood’s third XI made it three consecutive wins with victory away at Emmbrook and Bearwood 3s.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat, the Crows made good work setting a total.
Simon Sheppard (20) started well before being run out. A big partnership from Nikunj Mehta (60) and Ven Adapa (109), his excellent maiden ton for the club, put the Crows well on top.
Shravan Sathiyan (21) and Simon Law (14*) provided useful runs in the middle order. The Crows posted a defendable 265 from 40 overs.
In the field, the Crows started well with threatening bowling from Uttam Gajjar (1-26) and Marshall Miller (2-38) getting early wickets, the first a smart one handed catch down the leg side from keeper Rich Hester.
Further tight bowling from Dave McQuitty (0-25) and Matt Kelly (2-13) chipping in with wickets left Emmbrook and Bearwood needing more than a run a ball for the second half of their innings.
The rain came and play was suspended after 23 overs with E&B 105-5, 55 runs short of the Crows on DLS.
The rain didn’t ease up enough for play to resume, and the teams shook hands with the Crows victors on DLS.
The victory puts the Crows in fifth in Division 3 with chances in the coming weeks to keep climbing the table.
