A kitchen store is set for conversion into a convenience store or cafe in Caversham.
A business has applied to sell alcohol from a building that was occupied by the Dream Doors company, which promised ‘new life for old kitchens’.
Dream Doors was based at 53 Donkin Hill, Caversham, on the ground floor of a semi-detached building.
The trade van for the company stated they could help customers with anything from a simple door swap to a full replacement kitchen.
Dream Doors sold Bosch, Siemens and Hotpoint, and is listed as ‘temporarily closed’.
Now, a company called ‘Sip and Vape’ is set to take the unit over.
It is unclear whether the business will be operated as a convenience store or a cafe, as the address does not appear on Reading Borough Council’s planning portal.
Sip and Vape has applied to sell alcohol from 7am to 11pm each day.
This has been submitted in a licensing application to the council.
A statutory consultation into the application is currently live. You can respond by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.
The deadline for representations closes on Monday, June 15.
The building is located next to the Hair@51 hairdressers and near the Henley Road parade, which is home to a Co-op, independent businesses and flats on the first floor.
Streetview imagery shows Dream Doors occupied the premises from 2016 onwards.
Prior to that, it was the office of George Brownlee & Partners chartered quantity surveyors and project managers.
