A DRIVER was chased by police across west Reading on Wednesday evening, and the force is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened around 6pm on January 10.

Officers had attempted to stop the driver of a black Audi S3 on Vastern Road, as the vehicle was suspected to have been used in the supply of Class A drugs.

The car sped off, causing other drivers to take evasive action.

It was then chased through:

  • Vastern Road
  • Caversham Road
  • York Road
  • Ross Road
  • Swansea Road
  • Tudor Road
  • Greyfriars Road
  • Friar Street
  • Chatham Street
  • Easton Place
  • Oxford Road
  • Waylan Street
  • Jesse Terrace
  • Castle Hill
  • Coley Hill
  • Castle Crescent
  • Coley Avenue
  • Berkeley Avenue
  • Rose Kiln Lane
  • Laud Close.

The driver is described as an Asian man with a beard, in his early twenties, and wearing a black tracksuit. The vehicle had the partial registration of DG18.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that a 21-year-old man from Woodley has been arrested as a result of this incident and bailed until March 27.

He has been arrested on suspicion of:

  • Possession with intent to supply class A drugs
  • Possession with intent to supply cannabis
  • Driving a vehicle dangerously
  • Failing to stop when required by a constable
  • Driving while disqualified
  • Using a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Aggravated vehicle taking.

Investigating officer PC Matthew Fairman, based at Reading police station, said: “I am appealing to anybody who was driving in any of the above roads and witnessed this vehicle driving at speed to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“I would also like to hear from anybody who has any information relating to possible drug dealing in the areas mentioned.

“You can make a report via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference 43240014618.

“Alternatively, for 100% anonymity, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
