Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was left unconscious following an unprovoked attack in Reading town centre.

The incident occurred at about 02:00 GMT on Sunday, 9 November, at the bus stops next to Broad Street Mall, opposite the Oxford Road junction.

The woman sustained a head injury and briefly lost consciousness. She was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Police said the description of the offender remains unknown. However, officers believe several members of the public stopped to assist the woman and provided first aid at the scene.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident — or who helped the woman — to come forward.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said those individuals “could hold vital information” and added: “Your information could make all the difference.”
