Reading manager Leam Richardson has been linked with the vacant Bradford City job – but a move away from the Royals currently appears unlikely.
Richardson is among the names listed in the betting to replace Graham Alexander at Valley Parade, but he is a 16/1 outsider in the latest market.
Michael Duff and Paul Heckingbottom are joint favourites at 2/1, with Tom Cleverley at 5/1 and Dave Challinor at 10/1, all priced considerably shorter than Richardson.
There has also been no indication that Bradford have approached Richardson, who remains in charge at Reading.
BBC Radio West Yorkshire commentator Jamie Raynor said Bradford’s search was likely to remain open to managers both in work and currently without a club.
He said: “The picture is becoming clearer. I think it’s a pretty open mind being out towards the recruitment process. It could be a manager out of post or in work at the moment.”
Raynor said Bradford’s board would also be considering what had worked during Alexander’s successful spell at the club.
“What is key is that they (the board) know what has worked well for them. There’s an awareness that the home form has been a big part of the success of Graham Alexander’s time and in that is personality.
Raynor added that he would be surprised if Bradford made an appointment before the weekend, although he did not rule one out.
“I would be surprised if there is an appointment by Reading but I don’t think it’s off the table.”
Bradford are looking for a new manager after Alexander left to take charge of Championship side Preston North End.
The Bantams remain top of League One, having collected 15 points from their opening seven matches.
They will travel to the Select Car Leasing Stadium to face Richardson’s Reading side on Saturday.
